VA - Kalediene - Lithuanian Christmas Songs - 1999 (lossless [FLAC] + working CUEsheet; HQ album art;) Partija 431 006-2, 1999 (CD) Is it not a miracle that today in villages of DzÅ«kija ancient Advent and Christmas songs remain engraved in the memory of elderly people? These songs are still sung. Listening to the music in this album, you will be entering a building in which everyone present behaves carefully, respectfully and creatively with authentic Lithuanian folk songs. Daiva SteponaviÄienÄ—, a leader of the folklore group Sedula, composer Algirdas Klova, who has spent much time collecting songs and instrumental music in country villages, also other performers are city children, though their parents' roots were in country villages. Veronika PovilionienÄ— is a DzÅ«kÄ— from town Lazdijai, Petras VyÅ¡niauskas, playing music with her is a Samogitian from town of PlungÄ—. Only our ancestors knew the true folk holiday rituals and the full meaning of songs. When Christianity entered Lithuania, ancient New Year rituals matched up with Christian Advent and Christmas holidays. Even during Soviet times the tradition of entire family getting together for Christmas Eve supper - KÅ«Äia, was not destroyed. This album features three songs by Juozas Naujalis representing Catholic traditions and other songs of pagan traditions. These present day instruments and modern interpretation will not destroy these songs' authenticity. Zita KelmickaitÄ— Tracklist: 1. MįslÄ—s / aktorÄ— N.GelžinytÄ— ; 2.
